Australia Day!

Last week was Australia day, where everyone celebrates the discovery of Australia by westerners. There have been loads of free live music at the Rocks, inbetween the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge which was really good, loads of people around and there are fireworks as well tonight. Monday was also a bank holiday which makes it all the better.

I got sunburned and my head peeled which made me look really good as you can imagine!

They alos write ’sorry’ in the sky using planes which is pretty impressive – they are apparantly saying sorry to the aboriginals for being a little on the harsh side a few years back.

Sydney FC

I went to see the might Sydney FC take on Queensland last night.  The footy here is really popular but the standard is lacking a bit!  There was a point where I thought if I had brought my boots I might have got a game.  Juninho, Middlesborough’s old player now plays for Sydney, he’s lost all of his pace but was still the best player on the park by a mile.

Sadly, neither team seemed to realise that the ball had to go between the posts and not over so the game inevitabely finished 0-0.

Bless em.

Bats!

One thing I forgot about Australia is that they have rediculously large bats over here – and loads of them! I reckon their wingspan is well over a metre.

Been here for two weeks

As the title suggests I’ve been here now for a couple of weeks, about to start work on Thursday. All is going well, I have a bank account, mobile phone and most importantly, somewhere to live. For those of you who don’t know, I am living here:

I’m in a little one bed flat which is pretty cool, lots of space plus the building has a gym and swimming pool which I am sure will not get a great deal of use from me.

Now that I have a lot of boring admin stuff out of the way I intent to start having some fun here, surfing, diving etc. I’ll keep you all posted with pictures and videos etc once I get going!
